How We Serve

Childcare & Advocacy

Transforming Families

The Childcare and Advocacy Department seeks to transform families by holistically meeting the unique needs of every child in residence at GSF while strengthening families in the community through counseling, empowerment, and medical support. The Childcare and Advocacy Department has several different sub-departments, including a program specialized for children living with disabilities, a registered clinic, a social work team, and a home for children and babies.

The children’s home at Good Shepherd’s Fold is approved and certified by the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development of Uganda. The children’s home is a family-based model with 9 separates houses, each containing a family group with a primary caregiver. Whether a child living with disabilities, a baby, or a school-aged child, the Childcare and Advocacy team recognizes the uniqueness and value of every life and acts according to what is best for the individual child. Every child in residence has a designated social worker who strives to counsel and empower his/her relatives with the goal of reunification. It is our vision that every interaction we have with the children at GSF would exemplify the love of Jesus and point the children to their Heavenly Father.
